Don't let them steal your sparkle.
Looking on she sings the songs
The words she knows, the tune she hums
But oh how it feels so real
Lying here with no one near
Only you and you can hear me
When I say softly, slowly
Hold me closer tiny dancer
Count the headlights on the highway
Lay me down in sheets of linen
You had a busy day today
- Elton John, Tiny Dancer
Been bit by the art bug lately, after sometime in hibernation. Recently returning back to more hands on art with scissors, glue and old magazines. It feels so good to be crafting again. I guess its true what they say about slumps and struggles:
Letting out the chaos in our minds is a beautiful and powerful thing. All I can say is, friends, there are some fun things brewing.
Banana ice cream with one ingredient only: bananas! Apple bananas are Hawaii's little tart pockets of love. Always trying to keep things local, we decided to make the goodies with our apple bananas.
Already waiting for the next batch to ripen.
We harvested a bunch of them from the backyard and they finally turned that golden yellow hue that we all love so much. The one thing though, is that when you have that many bananas, you're immediately faced with the delicious problem of figuring out what to do with all that goodness. I found an old Champion juicer used here in Hilo last month and have been in love with it ever since. Love of bananas + love of juicer = one thing...banana ice cream!
The ease of this recipe is mind-blowing. All you need are bananas! Just freeze several then once frozen, run them through your juicer with the homogenizing filter. What you are left with is pure, creamy, sweet, tart, banana soft serve. The perfect treat for these muggy days.
